WILL YOUR MUSCLE TURN INTO FAT IF YOU STOP GYMMING?

It’s something that I’ve been frequently told back in the days when I started going to gym.That if I ever stop lifting weights my muscles will turn into fat.

And the reason that I thought to write about it is that am pretty sure that lockdown has stopped most of us from gymming. Yeah ! we do have the option of working out in home but it has lot of limitations.

Now coming to the topic: Adipocyte/Fat Cell is made up of 90% Triglycerides and 10%Water. On the other hand Muscle cell/ Muscle fibre is made up of 70% Water, 25% Contractile protein, 5% IMTG (Intramuscular Triglyceride) and 1% approx Glycogen. Which makes muscles and fat two different entities.

So,the answer is a simple NO.That our muscles won’t turn into fat if we stop lifting.
